Documentation standardization notes

Please use these notes when writing for this knowledge base to maintain a standardized format.
  • Use relative links ↗ to navigate between different files within this knowledge base.
  • Use anchor links to headings within the same file.

Creating/Updating tables of contents

The tables of contents are created using a VSCode extension Markdown All in One ↗ using the command Create Table of Contents (in the VS Code Command Palette ↗) to insert a new table of contents. It should then automatically be updated when a file is saved.
Add the tag <!-- omit in toc --> to any headings you do not want to be included in the Table of Contents.

Glossary and FAQ heading ordering

When adding items to the Glossary and FAQ it's important that they remain in alphabetical order so it's easier to navigate. As there is no native way to achieve this in Markdown, you can use this bash script to reorder the headings.
The file name alphabetical-ordering.sh has been added to the .gitignore file.
touch alphabetical-ordering.sh
chmod 700 alphabetical-ordering.sh
Edit the new file with your preferred text editor.
